Pourin' From A Empty Cup, Live From the Old Hay Bay Church

about

As a child I grew up just down the road from the Old Hay Bay Church. It's the oldest surviving Methodist building in Canada and is the location of probably the most memorable drowning accident that ever occurred in the county.

Over the years it's been a common place for historians and ghost hunters. I was lucky enough to be able to perform and film in that building.

lyrics

The cats she calls mister
With burrs stuck in their fur
All looked the same to me

The troupe of clowns
From barrooms to bedrooms
All smelled of cheap wine

Then the wind swept pines bent and introduced night
And she's left standing with no dog in this fight

Pourin' from a empty cup
Never really asked for much
Just copper, no silver or gold
We're all pourin' from a empty cup

The man on the corner
And the one at the altar
Sound the same to me

Neither could turn
That blood into wine
But still they preached

But water and bone, no kings and no thrones
It's a human condition to find purpose in this world

Pourin' from a empty cup
Never really asked for much
Just copper, no silver or gold
We're all pourin' from a empty cup
